Don’t Make This Mistake with Bipolar Disorder
Published: Mon, 05/31/10
Hi ,
How's it going?
Hope you are doing well.
I wanted to tell you about this really easy
mistake you can make with bipolar
disorder.
First, let me tell you what happened to me.
Recently I have not been happy.
Why?
Well, because I body build non-
competitively.
(Meaning I don't compete; I just do it as
a hobby.)
And I have been lowering my body fat
for a few months.
Everything WAS going according to plan.
Until the last two weeks.
What happened?
Well, I was so excited at the end of April.
My plans were working almost perfectly.
I would hit my goal of high 5 percents or
low 6 percent body fat by early June.
However my plan stopped working.
What the heck happened?
Well for some reason I decided in May
that since I was doing so well I would
change what I was doing to speed up my
progress.
This makes no sense at all, but I did it.
Anyway.
I added a natural supplement and also
"improved" my diet.
Guess what?
I haven't lost any body fat at all in two
weeks.
The things I did were supposed to work.
They are little things.
Anyway, I have concluded that they have
not worked.
By stopping them, I have already seen my
results going back in the last two days.
What in the world does this have to do
with bipolar disorder?
NOTHING.
Just kidding :)
Many people make the mistake of changing
or stopping what they are doing to help
themselves or their loved one with bipolar
disorder.
For example, you may be taking a certain
medication and you stop all of a sudden.
Why?
Well, you feel that you don't need it any
more, or this, or that.
THIS IS WRONG.
Just look at what I did.
Dumb.
If what you have been doing is working,
then you need to stick with it.
If a certain medication, therapy, or
activity has been helping you, then it would
be foolish to drop it.
That wouldn't make any sense at all, if you
stop to think about it.
But that's the problem:
It's soooo easy to NOT stop and think
about it.
But then, where does that lead us?
It can lead to a relapse.
It can lead to death, even.
It can easily lead to messing up your entire
life.
Why would you want to do this?
I strongly encourage you to stop and think
about this before you change anything.
On the flip side of things, if something is
not working, I would advise you talk to
a professional (doctor, therapist, etc.)
BEFORE you stop it.
That way you can see better why it's not
working.
After all, it may just need to be adjusted
a little bit, and then why would you want
to waste the progress you've made with
it so far?
The most important part of this; the one
thing I would have you take from this
email if I had a say-so in it; is:
Think before you change anything.
If it doesn't need to be changed, then don't
change it!
Now, what do you think of that?
