Merry Borderline Christmas
Published: Wed, 12/24/08
Hi ,
How's it going?
I hope you're having a Merry
Borderline Christmas today!
I know the holidays can be a
stressful time too, though,
especially for supporters of
loved ones with borderline
personality disorder.
All the excitement, the parties,
the family gatherings, etc., can
make your loved one act out even
more, which can make things
even harder on you.
So today, I want you to remember
one very, very important thing:
YOU ARE OK!
Remember, YOU are not the one
with borderline personality disorder.
Your loved one is.
And no matter how many times you are
called names, you are NOT any of
those names.
YOU ARE OK!
No matter how many times you are yelled
at and blamed for things, it is NOT your
fault!
It isn't your loved one's fault, either,
though. It is the fault of their borderline
personality disorder.
It is the disorder that makes them act that
way.
No matter how many times they try
to tell you that you are something that
you know you aren't, don't believe them.
This is SO important to remember:
YOU ARE OK!
In my main course and resource below, I
teach that there is a distinction between
your loved one and their disorder.

Well, there is also a distinction between your
loved one's acting out behavior and you.
They are sick, but...
YOU ARE OK!
So, even though today may be
a trial for you, try to use all your
patience to get through it,
remembering that your loved
one is sick.
Try to use all your understanding
to get through today, remembering
that your loved one is sick.
And try to use all your compassion
to get through today, remembering
that your loved one is sick.
But above all, remember...
YOU ARE OK!
So...
MERRY BORDERLINE CHRISTMAS!
Your Friend,
Dave
