Borderline? When You Wish Upon A Star…

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=

Hi ,

How are you feeling today?

I hope you are feeling fine.

I don't know if you remember
the old Walt Disney show or
not, but it used to begin with,
"When you wish upon a star..."

And it promised that all your
dreams would come true.

Well, there are many people
who became disillusioned as
adults because their dreams
did not, in fact, come true.

There's one thing that song
didn't tell you.

That if you want your dreams
to come true...

It's not a matter of wishing upon
a star...

It's a matter of making them come
true yourself.

For some people it's a matter of
education. Some people even go
to college for eight years or more
to achieve their goals (make their
dreams come true, like being a
doctor)!

For others it's a matter of starting
at the bottom and working their way
up in a company to make their
dreams come true (like being a
manager of a big corporation).

Some women just wanted to be
wives and mothers, and that was
their dream, but they had to work
at learning how to do that.

Some men dreamed of owning
their own business that they could
hand down to their children, but
they had to work hard at it.

Some couples wanted to reach a
point financially where they could
afford to take vacations once a year.

Other couples wanted to be able to
make financial investments that
would pay off for their retirement,
or for their children.

Yes, dreams can come true, but they
aren't always easy, and sometimes
you have to pay a price for them,
even if that price is only measured
in the time you have to put into waiting
for them to come true.

But do you see my point?

Everybody has dreams, whatever
they are.

But you have to work at making
them come true.

Even the people with borderline
personality disorder that I talk about
in my main course and resource.
But their main dream is usually
just to get better.

At least that's what their supporter's
dream is.

Supporters of a loved one with borderline
personality disorder may have had
dreams...

But now mostly their dream is just
for their loved one to get better.

If your loved one is in a stable (normal)
period right now, then I am happy
for you.

Then you might be entertaining
thoughts of some of those dreams
coming true again...

That you might be able to have a
"normal" relationship...

That you might be able to go on a
"real" vacation...

That there won't be any more "out
-of-control" episodes...

That now your loved one will treat
you like you should be treated...

That you can now have a "normal"
life...

And isn't that the best dream of all?

To have a real, normal life?

Unfortunately, dreams don't always
come true.

Especially when you live with
a loved one with borderline
personality disorder.

Those dreams I just talked about?

Yes, you may have them when
your loved one is in a normal period.

But then your loved one will go
into one of their episodes of out-of-
control behavior, where they start
acting poorly again...

Become impulsive...

Act irrationally...

Do risk-taking behaviors...

And start treating you poorly
again...

And those dreams go out the
window (again).

Unfortunately, when you're dealing
with someone who has borderline
personality disorder, your dreams
become different from other people's
dreams.

You live in a "different world" -
the borderline world.

Now your biggest dream is that your
loved one reach stability.

You want your loved one to get
treatment.

You want your loved one to change.

You want your loved one to get better.

And you dream of having a loved one
who is happy, successful, stable, and
"normal."

What is your biggest dream?

Do you think you will achieve it?

Your Friend,

Dave
