Borderline? Shocking Truth About Planning

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES<=

Hi ,

How's it going?

Hope you are doing well.

I wasn't earlier.

I just got back from a marathon, and you
wouldn't believe what all happened there.

All during the very short trip, four different
things went wrong.

The internet to my laptop wouldn't work.

My battery charger decided it wasn't going
to work either.

I couldn't get into my voicemail.

When I finally did get online, my email
wouldn't work right.

I was frustrated, to say the least.

I could have cried.

It would have been very easy to, I'm sure.

I could have come up with a conspiracy
theory as to why everything wasn't working
all at the same time.

But I didn't do either of those two things.

Instead, I accepted the fact that it is
just guaranteed that some things will go
wrong.

There's really nothing we can do about
that.

But we can choose how we react, and even
how we plan for it ahead of time.

It is always a good idea to have a backup
plan.

It is also always a good idea to have
strategies in place for how to deal with it
when things go wrong.

For example, I was on the phone with my
cell phone company trying to get my
voicemail to work, and with my internet
company trying to get my internet to work.

I thought ahead and realized that if my
battery charger wasn't going to work, then
I probably shouldn't use my phone too
much, because then I'd wear down the
battery on it.

And some things, like the unheard
voicemails and unread emails, would just
have to wait until later.

Sometimes it seems like everything goes
wrong all at once.

This can especially be true in the lives
of someone affected by borderline
personality disorder.

All of a sudden, their insurance won't
cover their prescription, there is a change
of co-pay (that isn't in their favor), and
other life events that aren't as good as one
would hope all happen at the same time.

Have you ever had a week or a day like
this?

It may seem like there isn't much you can
do about it, but there is.

You can choose how you react to it, and
you can come up with a back up plan that
will allow you to make the most of the
situation you have found yourself in.

Have you ever heard that phrase: "when
life gives you lemons, make lemonade"?

Well, I think I'd take it a step further, and
say when life gives you lemons, make
lemon meringue pie.

LOL

If you are having problems affording your
prescriptions, for whatever reason, then
talk to your psychiatrist about it and see
what sorts of ideas they have.

Chances are they know of some resources
that you would have never thought of.

If your therapist cancels on you and you
really need to talk to someone, find
someone in your support team to talk to.

If that isn't possible, go online and search
out a support group that you can join to
talk about what you are going through
right at that moment.

There are other options, too.

In fact, there are always other options.

Sometimes it just takes a little bit of
creativity.

Actually, sometimes it takes a lot.

If you need help with that creative process,
then talk to the people in your support
team and see if they can help you come up
with ideas.

You can also talk to them about the ideas
you have already come up with to see if
they are worth using or not.

No matter what life brings you, you can
always make something better out of it.

It just takes thinking about it.

Can you think of a situation that could be
improved on by a creative back-up plan?

Well, I have to go!

Your Friend,

Dave
